PROJECTION MAPPING AND TECHNOLOGY

Projection mapping is a recent innovative technology, tested and approved in Geneva before. It combines audiovisual techniques and artistic creation, which has earned it a wide success on a global scale over the last ten years.

Video mapping is a projection technique used to turn objects or buildings into display surfaces for video projection, playing with their reliefs.

A project as ambitious as the Geneva Summer Mapping requires a high-performance projection device, especially since the location of the mapping show in the city centre calls for a high level of luminosity in order to remain visible despite the surrounding lighting. The light frescoes are created using large video projectors with 15,000 to 40,000 lumens output, which corresponds to cutting-edge technology capable of projecting light animations onto large surfaces in 4K, i.e. in ultra-high definition.

Impact-vision

The projections are designed and realised by the Swiss company Impact-Vision, specialising in audiovisual performance and scenography. Founded in 2008, the team now has about 15 members and works in collaboration with numerous producers and freelancers. Impact Vision sets up audiovisual installations for numerous events and festivals in Switzerland and abroad. The company is versatile, and its areas of expertise range from sound and light to video production, scenography and mapping.

The Arcade des Arts

Located on the Pont de la Machine, the Arcade des Arts is a historical monument and a mecca for watchmaking and craftsmanship. Its location at the heart of the City of Geneva, marking the line between the bay and the Rhône, gives it optimal visibility.

The Hôtel des Bergues

Built in 1834, the Hôtel des Bergues, now the Four Seasons, is one of the bay’s most emblematic edifices. It serves as a crossroads for tourists and travellers visiting Geneva.

The Quai des Bergues and Quai du Général-Guisan buildings

Located along the bay up the banks of the Rhône, these signature buildings serve as a showcase for the greatest brands of Swiss excellence.
